About how to choose a right engine oil for a car,
here have a beginner tutorial write by myself,

Choose an engine oil, generally inseparable from three different.
Viscosity Different,
Level Different,
Brand Different,
about viscosity different.
example 5W30.
the front number is cold temperature viscosity,
and...
the rear number is hot temperature viscosity.
for the front number, can choose as low as possible,
because the lower number, the better cold start protection...
rear number is mean when the engine running in operating temperature,
oil thickness...
Thin - engine become lighter, it is recommend for low rpm running,
and also can help to city driving more fuel-efficient.
But oil too thin was worry about not enough protection,
oil cannot protect the engine in high temperature when the engine running in high rpm,
engine also will be more noisy,
Thick - when choose the oil too thick,
will cause the engine running in low rpm have a little bit heavy,
and make the engine not fuel efficient, but conducive to high rpm running and protective.
here have an example about the different.
5w20, 5w30, 5w40
20 oil is lighter, more for city drive.
30 oil is standard, for 50% city 50% highway.
40 is partial thickness, for fully highway use.
(This just an example, different car or modified car may have different about the standard viscosity.)
about level different,
which is often said that is mineral, semi synthetic, fully synthetic and ester.
Main different are the base oil, base oil except have a longer durability,
it also have a better stability, heat resistance, cleanliness, and the drive ability.
For example, a 20 oil,
the market basically did not have a 20 viscosity in mineral or semi synthetic,
mostly are fully synthetic or ester, this because 20 oil too thin,
it must relies on the better base oil to provide the basic protection for the engine.
so, although a thin viscosity have not provide a good heat resistance,
but a better base oil also have help the heat resistance and others.
Finally is the brand different...
here just talk about some premium brand,
common brand i think most people are caring the price than the performance.
A premium brand, prices are generally higher,
the different are the style and market direction.
Certain brands may specialize in performance, or specialize in durability. . .
After all, the world still have not a perfect engine oil,
So if you want the better performance may loss some durability.
If you want durability, you must loss some performance.
in addition, still need to see the engine condition,
If the engine have not a good maintain before,
engine oil may have burned by the engine, oil will gradually reduce.
In this situation, only have two way to go,
repair the engine, or just use a thicker engine oil to cover up the problem.
But it needs to be noted is, cover up the problem not a long-term approach. . .
