Since my car was built in 1992, the interior has aged quite a bit, especially the plastic dash pieces. The driver side door and the center armrest were scratched up and kind of sticky. At first i tried painting the pieces, but i could not get a nice smooth coat, so i gave up on that and decided to purchase 3M DiNoc carbon vinyl wrap instead. I spent a few hours this past weekend applying the wrap and am quite pleased with the results.

This is what the center armrest panel looked like before the wrap:


Here is the vinyl that i cut to size to apply to the piece:

Trimmed off all the excess vinyl. All that's left is to cut out the holes:

Here's the backside of the piece. You can see that everything is trimmed to fit exactly like if i had painted it:


The key to getting the vinyl to wrap around curved areas and edges is to use heat:


Here's what i've done so far. I'm planning to do the center AC panel and also the main meter panel, but since they're not in as bad of a condition, i'm not in a rush.

I was too excited about receiving my RE雨宮 IPF LED Carbon Taillights that i couldn't wait to install them, so i spent a few hours this weekend doing just that. As expected, the quality and finish of the taillights is great. Everything lines up and fits perfectly. 雨宮 also provides mostly everything needed to finish the install. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any bolts to secure the housing to the car, so i had to go to Home Depot to buy some bolts and washers. Also, there were no installation instructions, but luckily, it was pretty straightforward and i was able to complete it without any problems. I chose not to hook up the backup lights because i wasn't sure where the backup light harness was and i didn't want to spend time removing the rear bumper to find it. Maybe i'll do it in the future. Here are some pictures of the taillights installed:





I really love the look of these taillights. I also really liked the original design by Mazda, but i did think it was getting a little outdated and needed to be spiced up a bit. I think 雨宮-san was successful in modernizing the rear end of the FD.

It took a long time to receive them, but i'm so happy they're finally here and the quality is top-notch, as expected from RE雨宮. I can't wait to get these new lights installed!

For the past week, since July 4th, i've been on vacation. Luckily, i've had the opportunity to take my car out for a couple of nice long drives, roughly 200 miles. On my first drive, as i was following the GPS home, i suddenly found myself on a section of road that was unpaved. For unknown reasons, i stubbornly continued forward rather than making a u-turn and finding an alternate route. I eventually hit a section in the road where the potholes were just too large for me to get past without damaging my car.



So at last, i finally decided that i could no longer move forward and had to backup and make a u-turn. Unfortunately, as i was backing up, i heard a loud crunching sound. I immediately jumped out of the car and ran to the back thinking that my RE雨宮 diffuser was destroyed. To my great surprise, the diffuser was completely intact with no damage. Instead of fully inspecting the car, i decided to get back onto paved road before reinspecting the car again. After i got back onto paved road, i walked around the car and eventually found out my carbon side step on the passenger side was mangled pretty badly. Although i was upset, i knew that it was a piece that would eventually get replaced when i got my RE雨宮 AD GT widebody kit, so i didn't dwell on it too much. Luckily, the carbon pieces were free and i found that with a little tape, the damage is not that noticeable from a distance.



At least i was able to snap a nice picture from the place where my car got damaged.
