My C30 turned ten years old this Fall - so it was time for an expensive maintenance visit to Tokorozawa Volvo. The timing belt for my engine is due to be changed at 120K miles or ten years. I did not have that many miles but the ten years was up in September.

In addition to the timing belt, the water pump, serpentine belt, and all tensioners were also replaced. The inspection also found the right motor mount also needed replacing.

Along with a coolant change and new oil and filter, the total came to 250,000 yen.

Quite expensive, and truthfully, I considered trading the C30 in for a new car - a Golf GTI.

But I decided to keep it, as I still enjoy shifting the six speed manual, hearing the 5 cylinder's unique exhaust note, and enjoying those Volvo seats

It has been quite some time since I posted on Mikara - but I am still a proud owner of my C30, which is now seven years old.

I continuing to enjoy driving it, and have only had a few problems...

- First, my front Volvo badge sticker came off in the first year.

- Then in the third year, a leak developed in the windshield.

- Then in the fourth year, the coolant reservoir developed a small hole.

- Now in the seventh year, I just noticed my front Volvo badge sticker came off again....I'll get it fixed on my next trip to the dealer in September.

I have seen in other forums that these are known problems with most C30s.

My current mileage is approximately 44K KMs

The only wear I am seeing on my C30 is a small scuff mark on the driver's seat, along the side bolster.

I hope all of you are still enjoying driving your C30.

I was washing my C30 last week and noticed several small drops of water on the inside of the windshield. Checking further, it seems I had a small hole in the seal that surrounds the windshield. Looking at some other internet forums, I learned this is a problem with 2011 and 2012 C30s.

Fortunately, Tokorozawa Volvo removed the windshield and replaced the seal at no charge, even though my 4 year warranty expired in Sept.

I hope no one else has this problem, but if you do, I recommend you see your Volvo dealer and they may fix it for you free of charge,, as it appears to be a defect in the seal.

September is yearly maintenance month, so I made an appointment to take my C30 in yesterday.  In the past, I have gone to the Volvo dealership in Machida but about 4 months ago a new Volvo dealership opened in Tokorozawa, which is much closer.
