US develop a new brain surgery robot to diagnose some difficult diseases

US researchers at Vanderbilt University announced a new surgical robot which is still under the development . The robot can precisely locate from cheek to brain area , from cheek to brain can avoid significant brain and nervous system area. Any errors are likely to be devastating. Currently machine reports accuracy is 1.18 mm . And they predicted that robot will be applied into surgery within10 years .

α- acetylation modify protein metabolism regulation to promote cell survival

Researchers from Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, BIDMC) through a series of experiments and found that the critical role of α- acetylated proteins of the N terminal for cell survival , providing important information to deeply understand apoptosis

N- terminal acetylation is a widespread modified form in eukaryotes, of which the N-alpha-Acetylation is usually occur simultaneously in translation ,generally occurs when the nascent peptide chain has about 40 residues. This modified form is common, such as 80% soluble protein in bacterial cells are the N-terminal α- acetylation

Precious studies have shown that N-terminalα- acetylated protein is closed related to sensitivity of cells to apoptotic signals . In this research , by biochemical experiment , the researchers analyzed the protein acetylation status , confirming that protein N-terminal α- acetylated is controlled by acetyl-CoA , , which is the activate form of Acety l, ivolved in various acetylation reaction as well as important intermediate products in carbohydrates, fats, amino acid oxidase .

The researchers also suggested that due to Bcl-xL is a well-known anti-apoptotic protein which affects mitochondrial metabolism, therefore they think that this factor may build a bridge between the protein and apoptosis , which confirming that N-terminalα- acetylated proteins can promote cell survival .
