The day started with drizzle of water and ended up a fine day for the event. Auckland was looking beautiful from the Harbour Bridge as always. I didn't know whether it'll be packed or not as Kiwis tend to stay in their houses during a cloudy, rainy day.
I came to the event in my friend's Lexus which had a tiny projector of the lexus logo when you open the doors. It was pretty cool. I think I will buy one that projects Toyota. haha
Anyway, I wish I had taken a lot of photos but I didn't. The event was pretty crazy, It had a lot of crashes and explosions. But thank goodness, no one was hurt. The point system of the event is based on an arcade game. It requires you to go to the wall as close as possible to get points. the more you do it the more combination points you get. and when you reach the end, you must park your car perfectly near the end like parallel parking between 2 cars to power up your points.
There were a lot of cars in the event but the one that caught my attention was Daigo Saito's Lexus producing 1200BHP. It was extremely fast! but the car didn't get the right setup on the day and couldn't hit any sensors for points. But he did well none the less. I think this day is all about experience and fun. The drivers seemed to be having fun! A lot of wall hitting and losing their body kits. haha "The more you hit the wall the more you win"
Mad Mike's RX-7 was roaring through the track on the first half. Although his car was destroyed in the practice run, He stayed in the competition with his reserve car which was an RX-8.
Mad mike driving his second car.
Ken nomura was pretty good but the car didn't seem to behave well on tight spaces. It was struggling to lose traction but he managed to scoop some points.. He was the funny guy out of all the drifters. haha - Take note that most of these photos are not mine.
The other drivers like Matt Powers did a great job. The last run for the finals didn't go well for him. He probably just ran out of luck.
Have you guys ever seen a Christmas Tree made of bikes? well you have now! haha
