These new drop spindles from Keisler Automation allow you to lower your Miata on the cheap or more appropriately correct the suspension geometry of your lowered race car. The raw spindles retail for $1,400 for a set of all 4. But you must also add Toyota MR2 front hubs, Mazda Miata rear hubs and bearings, tophat shock spacers (
Nielex or
ISC Racing) and/or longer shocks to take full advantage of them. Bump travel is still limited by the tire contacting the upper fenderwell but the extra room afforded by the drop spindles allows droop travel to increase approximately 1 inch (2.5cm), which equates to a 20-25% improvement. This means better tire contact over bumps and better traction exiting corners as both tires stay on the ground. The improved geometry corrects the roll center and improves bump steer. It also allows you to run less spring rate for the same roll stiffness, which means a more compliant ride without sacrificing responsiveness. This is a significant upgrade at significant cost but it is perfect for the racer who missed out on the opportunity to buy the Manatee Racing and Yaw Power spindles.
Specs for front drop spindles:
- Correct suspension and steering geometry which reduces/eliminates roll couple increase, corrects factory camber curve, and bump steer caused by lowering via springs/coil over.
- 1.5 inch drop
- 3 Degrees negative camber built in the spindles
- Weighs 2.33 pounds vs. OEM 5.48 pounds (68% lighter)
- Stronger than OEM spindles
- Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum
- Electroless nickel plating protective coating
- Uses Toyota MR2 Spyder front hubs which have much greater bearing life and overall strength
- ABS sensors are incorporated into the hubs
- Hub fasteners included with spindles
- Optional brake mounting plates and hardware for Wilwood 4 piston calipers
- Fits NA and NB models
Specs for rear drop spindles:
- Correct suspension geometry which reduces/eliminates roll couple increase and corrects factory camber curve caused by lowering via springs/coil over.
- 1.5 inch drop
- Reduces excess negative camber on lowered car
- Complete modular assembly design
- Weighs 4.48 pounds vs. OEM 6.58 (32% lighter)
- Stronger than OEM spindles
- Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum
- Electroless nickel plating protective coating
- Accepts OEM ABS sensors
- Delrin upper bushings
- New hub bearings installed at no additional labor cost
- Fits NA and NB models
