This is the GTC variant of the Italia 2 kit by Simpson Design. It has many of the same features of the "standard" Italia 2 but is equipped with a fastback hardtop and rear end reportedly inspired by the Ferrari 330GTC Speciale "Princess de Rethy" by Pininfarina. This car reminds me of the Ginetta G15, the Ferrari 246 GT "Dino" and the Puma GT.

Here is the GTB variant of the Italia 2 kit by Simpson Design. It has many of the same features of the "standard" Italia 2 but is equipped with a fastback hardtop and rear end inspired by the Ferrari 275 GTB. Once again, I feel that wheel choice and fitment could be improved. The stock mirrors need to go. And my criticisms of the Italia 2 mentioned earlier, namely the canards, front fender vent treatment, front radiator grill opening and ride height remain. While this car misses the mark, it is getting closer.

Designer Jim Simpson has created a new version of his Italia body conversion specifically for the NB Roadster. This new Italia2 kit is similar to the original Italia for the NA Roadster but there have been many detail changes. While I appreciate the craftsmanship, I do not agree with the aesthetic as the proportions are off and the overall look is incongruous. I like the rear treatment and the covered headlamps are classic. But the wheels, the ride height, the canards, the front fender vents and the front radiator grill opening look wrong in my opinion. Personally, I much prefer the monoCRAFT mm1, a design which displays more balanced harmony.

A MX5Nutz.com regular spotted this vintage inspired Roadster at the Kop Hill Climb event located about 1 hour northwest of London. Check out the chopped windscreen, Dunlop style wheels with fake spinners, custom dashboard, gated shifter, wooden Moto-Lita steering wheel, aluminum door cards and low-back seats. I think he would fit in well with the Nostalgic Road Star's group.
