Ken Phuong of Hayward, California, USA has started a company called RetroModern that is making small runs of boutique Roadster parts and accessories. Ken previously owned a Classic White NA Miata and now he owns an Emerald Green NB Miata.





RetroModern has the following parts available for purchase now in their online store front:
-Modular door pulls
-Cigarette lighter plug (aluminum or stainless steel "signature" series)
-HVAC climate control knob kit for NA (1989-1997)

Once again I share with you the crazy, weird, insane, wild and extreme world of Mazda Miata enthusiasts. I don't have many details on this car, but apparently it was found in a junkyard. The owner, who owns a towing company, rescued the car from the scrap heap and put it together with some other spare parts he had laying around. A short drive shaft connects the two motors together. To be honest, I'm not sure how much Miata is left. It looks like the body is bolted onto a custom fabricated drag racing chassis made of steel tubing. Anyways, I'm sure the new owner is enjoying his new toy. It even performs duty as a tow rig when he goes camping!

Last month I was able to persuade my dad to make the 7 hour drive from his home in New York to visit me and attend the Washington Auto Show. It was a nice father/ son experience. We secured VIP access on media day and were able to sit in all the cars, eat free food and drink free beer! Good times!

It was also nice to be able to show my dad the new Mercedes-Benz GLK350 as my wife had just put in an order for one at the local Mercedes-Benz dealer. They are in high-demand since the facelift for 2013 and it was impossible to find an example with the right color/options so we had to special order it. It is scheduled to be built on March 18 at the Bremen, Germany assembly plant. Hopefully it will arrive sometime in April. We can't wait!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary MGB, British firm Frontline Developments have released a very special limited edition model based on the 1965 MGB GT. Called the LE50 and limited to just 50 examples, this car is manufactured in the town of Abingdon-on-Thames, the ancestral home of the MG Car Company, and features many modern amenities.



They start with a brand new British Motor Heritage body shell and fully seam weld it for strength. The chassis is then fitted with a 2.0L Mazda MZR / Ford Duratec LF-VE 4-cylinder engine along with a 6-speed manual transmission from a 2012 Mazda MX-5. Individual direct to head 45mm throttle bodies provide the classic intake resonance sound familiar to the MGB but with the modern convenience of fuel injection. Combustion of air and fuel controlled with Omex engine management, resulting in a power output of 215hp and 175lb-ft.







The LM25 aluminum front suspension wishbones and uprights with fully adjustable telescopic dampers, custom springs and anti-roll bars along with the bespoke 5 link rear suspension system help manage all that power, while billet alloy 4 piston front brake calipers with ventilated discs help bring the car to a quick and controlled stop from an estimated 160mph top speed.







The LE50 is a bespoke restomod in the spirit of the Singer Vehicle Design Porsche 911s. It is the perfect MGB, reimagined and reborn for today's world and with all the character and charm and style that made the original MGB so legendary. Prices start at around £50,000 = $75,600 = ¥6,955,500.
