Recently, I’ve got into the game, Vocabular King (ボキャブラキング). This free game runs on iPod touch or iPhone, and can check your spelling ability of English words. In the game, for a given Japanese word, a player has to tap the English spelling of the word inside 9 second. If the time limit is over or a player mis-taps, the game is over and the score is given. Thus, a player need know the correct spelling of the words and needs to tap quickly. A player also gets a world ranking for the score. The game has twelve levels, level 1 is the easiest and level 12 is the most difficult. I often played the game at Level 1 or 2 on the train these days. And although the level was one I became world rank 54th where the score is 15,110. To get the score I continued to play it for over 30 minutes. But a high level’s game is very difficult. I thought that I have to memorize more English words. I want to be able to read a newspaper or a magazine in English without a dictionary.

To enjoy autumnal tints, I went to Kyoto. As always, I got up late. I visited Arashiyama (嵐山) firstly and arrived there at 8:30 AM. I enjoyed walking around and taking photos there. Although I wanted to take photos in which these are no people, it was too late to do it… The view of autumnal tints was so-so, because the autumnal tint colors was not the same. Several colors, red, yellow and green, were scattered on the mountain. But there were many photographers. Their aim was to take photos of a Japanese traditional boat in the Katsura River.

Then I drove towards Mt. Fuji through the night. On To-Mei (東名) Highway, I also enjoyed rendezvous-driving with a white HONDA S2000 until Fujikawa (富士川) SA. I slept 2 or 3 hours at the SA and got up at 5:00 AM. I drove towards Mt. Fuji again. When I drove I met the fog. After going through the fog, I could see Mt. Fuji finally. The sky was still dark. Actually, the fog was cloud. That is I drove through the cloud. This was the first experience! Cloud sea (雲海) is very fantastic before the sunrise. Mt Fuji was also very beautiful after sunrise! I thought that I wanted to visit here again and climb to the top of the mountain.
This trip was very hard, I drove over 1,000km in 2 days. But I could had fun.

I drove on Route 156 towards the north, and reached Gokayama (五箇山). There are also many houses of Ga-Shou in Gokayama. Moreover, Gokayama is famous for the village of the Japanese paper which is called Gokayama Washi.
As the sky got dark in Gokayama, I drove on Tokai-Hokuriku Highway toward the south. Then I was caught in the snow at Hida (飛騨) and Takayama (高山) and rested from driving at Hirugano Highland SA. I ate 飛騨牛コロッケ定食 at the SA. I wondered whether or not to go to Mt. Fuji. As tomorrow’s weather report was cloudy in Shizuoka, I decided to go to Mt. Fuji.

This weekend was a three consecutive day holiday. Then, at this time, I tried to do my first long drive on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, I wanted to get up at 5:00 AM, but I got up 6:00 AM, I am late to get up again… Thus I departed from my home at 7:00 AM. First, I drove towards Shirakawa-Go (白川郷) in North of Gifu. On Tokai-Hokuriku Highway I enjoyed rendezvous-driving with a silver BMW Z4 for a while. This is owing to something of a weak tie between convertible cars. And I arrived at 11:00 AM. Shirakawa-Go is a famous historic village and is also a world heritage site. Most of the houses there are constructed by the method of Ga-Shou (合掌造り). I enjoyed walking there, taking photos and eating lunch for about 3 hours.
