Form + Function // 454RWHP Mazda RX7

We're pretty sure that we're not alone when we say that Mazda RX7 will probably go down in history as one of the finest cars that ever came out of Japan in the recent history, and by far one of the finest vehicles that Mazda ever built. We have been working on getting this particular FD on our site since last year and with the help of our photographer Ronaldo Stewart it's finally here. At first you may think it's just an extremely clean show car that has nothing going for it besides the looks, which is okay. We thought the same thing actually, until the owner (Steve Prew) forwarded us his specification list. We'll get into the all the specifics a little later but for now let's just say 454whp @ 24psi.

Photos By: Ronaldo Stewart exclusively for StanceNation.com

Why don't we start with the exterior first. One of the biggest changes to the car that you'll notice is of course that full GP Sports body kit. Steve also did a few smaller changes and additions though that many of us non-FD owners will easily overlook. OEM 99 spec turn signals, OEM 99 spec tail lights & Wise Sports crystal clear headlights just to name a few.

While it may not be as low as most of the cars that we tend to feature, there is no denying that it sits beautifully. Steve's choice of wheels is pretty awesome actually. SSR Comp-H's sized at 18×10.5 all around with an offset of +43. They were finished off with a gloss black powder coat. In order to have the wheels exactly where he wanted them to Steve had to add 5mm spacers up front and 15mm spacers in the rear (effective offset, +38 F, +28 R).

Suspension wise the car is sitting on Apexi EXV coilovers, though Steve has a few more goods added to keep everything in control such as Megan Racing toe links and trailing arms. Behind those stunning SSR Wheels sit StopTech slotted rotors, pads, and stainless steel brake lines accompanied by Motul RBF600 brake fluid. If you haven't figured out by now, let's just say that this beast gets "driven aggressively" at times.

We're really loving the Black/Red theme this thing has going for it. How about you? Drop a comment below.

That brings us under the hood. What you see in the photo below is Steve cleaning up his street ported and rebuilt 13b-rew engine that's sporting a PT67 Billet Precision Turbo. Many of the parts have been powder coated black to go with the black/red theme. Powder coating the R1 strut tower bar red was a brilliant idea in our opinion. Looks perfect!

Make sure you scroll all the way down for the entire specification list of not only the engine but every other modification that Steve ever added. As we mentioned before, the car puts out 454RWHP @ 24PSI. Now if we only had a video of this bad boy tearing it down the track our life would be complete.

Interior features a ton of modifications starting with custom red with black lettering Recaro SPG seats that are sitting on of course Recaro sliding rails. All plastic panels were refinished or replaced at one point and the entire center console, shifter and e brake boots were leather wrapped and red stitched. Few other things that Steve did to the interior include a Sparco Champion Limited Edition steering wheel with Work s Bell Steering Wheel Hub and custom red LED gauge cluster with JDM black gauge bezels. It's obvious that no amount of words or photos will ever do this car justice. It is truly one of those cars that has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated, in our opinion.

With that said, we'll leave you with a couple more awesome photos that our very talented photographer Ronaldo Stewart captured. Huge thank yo goes to to him for making this happen and of course a special thanks for to Steve. The amount of respect we have for Steve simply can not be put in words.

If you think your ride has what it takes to be on our site, don't forget to shoot us an email at snfeatures@gmail.com with a few photos as well as specifications. We're always looking for cars to share with our awesome fans!

Serious Business.

Sometimes we have hard time coming up with the appropriate titles for our features and this particular one was no exception. Well, until we saw the shirt Raymond was wearing (see photo below) that is. "Serious Business" is as appropriate as it gets for this mean looking machine, don't you think? We've been working with Dax Rodriguez (photographer) on getting this car up on our site for months now so we're super stoked to finally make it happen. It also happened just at the right time because just days after most of these photos were shot Raymond (owner) got rid of his wheels. Anyway, enough of the rambling. Allow us to introduce you to Raymond and his jaw dropping (and easily one of our favorite) Nissan S14. Raymond is reppin' the hot & humid state of Arizona and he rolls with his crew who go by the name of Street Sweeper Gang. More on them here, but let's learn more about Raymond and his ride..

Photos By: Dax Rodriguez exclusively for StanceNation.com

Video: http://vimeo.com/42665071

Raymond has been a Nissan lover for a long time and right after crashing his previous S14, he got his hands on this particular one. The idea was to build a "dream" 240SX no matter how long it took or how much work was involved. Raymond's goal was to not only build something he was proud of but at the same time show the world that not all S-Chassis cars are "cookie cutter". Raymond saw that the scene was full of kids rocking "knock-off" so he took the higher road and went authentic with everything. Regardless of price, if he wanted it, he saved and got it.

Let's start with the fitment numbers. As you can tell Raymond's current wheels are Weds Kranze LXZ's Front specs are 18x10 with an offset of -44 while the rears are crazy aggressive 18x11.5 with an offset of -8! Weds Kranze LXZ's are some of our favorite wheels out there. Their design is timeless and they will look good on almost any kind of vehicle. As you can see in the photos below, behind those sexy wheels sit SER Brembo front brakes. Raymond previously ran a set of SSR VF1 on his ride and the car looked just as awesome. (click here)

Want to talk chassis? This car shines in that department. PBM coilovers (10K/8K), Tanabe front sway bar, SPL tension rods, tire rods, rear toe, the list keeps going. It's even got a 1 piece aluminum drive shaft and Tomei 2 way differential. You're definitely going to want to scroll on the bottom of the page to check out the entire spec list.

Up next we'll take a look at what Raymond did to change the cars overall appearance. His favorite kit for these cars is the legendary Authentic BN Sports type 4 aero. A must have for Raymond. He also added the 30mm BN Sports front fenders up front and 50mm BN Sports fender in the rear. Going after that "aggressive" look even further, Raymond added a Dmax kouki hood and a set of European kouki headlights. He then finished everything off with a fresh coat of Melbourne metallic red paint from the BMW E92 M3. It's funny how we can literally put months and months of hard work into a couple of sentences, but we're sure you can imagine the time and money that all this work took.

Interior features a Works Bell short hub w/quick release and a Vertex Anniversary steering wheel. You'll also spot Defi white racer gauges [boost, water temp, oil press] and those awesome Bride ZETA III seats. Really the only thing that would set this car over the top is something proper under the hood, right? Scroll down for more!

Under the hood sits a Nissan S14 Kouki SR20DET engine accompanied by a GT2871R turbo w/3071 compressor housing. Again, the list of modifications is unbelievable so make sure you scroll down and check it all out. This is easily one of the best built cars all around that we have ever featured. Big ups to Raymond for literally turning his life long dream into reality. Scroll down for a few more photos.

So what does the future hold? Well, first of all, Raymond is currently on a hunt for some new wheels. He is also looking into getting the new turbo set up tuned to make even more power. This isn't confirmed yet but our photographer Dax who happens to be a good friend of Raymond tells us that Raymond is also in the process of building another s14 to top this one. He clearly loves his Nissans!

We'll leave you here with a few more photos and of course a huge thank you to our photographer Dax Rodriguez for making our dream come true by getting this car on our site. Be on the lookout for the next issue of Import Tuner where you'll be able to see even more of Raymonds car. If you think your ride has what it takes please don't hesitate to email us at snfeatures@gmail.com with a few photos of your ride!

Southern Worthersee 2012 Photo Coverage

One of the most anticipated events of the year finally arrived last week, and our photographer Zak DePiero was lucky enough to take some time off and finally experience SoWo for the very first time. (quick recap of 2011 can be found here). As you can imagine it was bit of a task staying focused on shooting all the cars when you're given an opportunity to meet so many awesome car people, but he did get enough for us to get the idea of what SoWo is all about. Cars, parties, friends and simply having a great time! Check out the 50+ photos below and look out for a special feature in the next day or two coming to us all the way from China. Big thanks to Zak for the awesome coverage!

808 ALL DAY.

What do you know, Hawaii is back in the spotlight yet again! This time around we have found one of the cleanest EG hatches from the islands (as far as we know) that we are stoked to share with you. This is one of those builds that took several years to complete, one thing at a time. However, knowing Hawaiians and the passion they have for their cars, we wouldn't be surprised if Josh (owner) stops here.  With inspiration from several online forums, magazines and pretty much any Honda related blog or website Josh's goal was to set himself apart from other Hondas on the islands. Did he do it right? We think so. Scroll down to take a closer look at this super clean EG.

Photos & Video By: Emil Corpuz & Jay Mora exclusively for StanceNation.com

http://vimeo.com/jayaye/whatthetuck

Whether Hondas are your thing or not, we're sure that you can appreciate a clean car when you see one. Most of the Hawaiian cars that we featured tend to have nothing but legit/quality parts. Same goes for Josh's Civic of course, from shoes to aero, it's as quality as it gets! Check out the video above.

Love this shot of our video guy Jay Mora doing work. Check out his fan page by clicking here.

Up front Josh added the legendary BackYard Special Carbon Kevlar front lip. He also swapped out the dated and plain OEM mirrors with Vision Technica Type TC mirrors and added a few touches of JDM. JDM headlights and corners, JDM tail lights and lastly JDM window visors. Lastly, he finished it all off with a matching BackYard Special Carbon Kevlar rear spoiler. It's a love/hate addition which we learned to love over time. How about you?

Suspension wise Josh is running Function Form type 2 full coilovers accompanied by a few more goodies such as Function 7 control arms, a ASR polished subframe brace and lastly BLOX front and rear camber kit to clear those aggressive wheels. It's honestly just the right stance for this particular car and we wouldn't change a thing.

Been a few weeks since we had a set of JLine's on our site! These particular JLine wheels are called SDMSL2 and are 16X8 up front and 16X9.5 in the rear. Pretty aggressive for an EG with what appear to be stock fenders, especially in the rear. They are wrapped in a set of Falken Ziex ZE 912 tires sozed in 205/40/16!

Gotta love those gold lug nuts! Great addition in our opinion.

The interior is pretty cool actually. It features a full EG6 SiR anniversary swap including the speedometer. Other things Josh changed out were the MOMO steering wheel and as you'll later see in the photos below, a Miracle X Bar with all optional bars.

Pretty clean bay don't you say? Tucked radiator lines, Wilwood brake booster delete, Wilwood clutch reservoir, hasport motor mounts & rywire tuck harness do the job. The motor is stock at the moment but as we said at the beginning, we're pretty sire it won't stay stock for a while! We will have to wait and see...

We will leave you with a few more photos like we always do. Big shout out to our video and photo guys Jay & Emil and of course Josh himself. Josh also wanted to give a shout out to New City Fender, Marc Gays Edrada, Chang Korean, Jakeup, John Hachi, Roger Top Guaps, Alex, Albert BSK, Jone, Jermy, Tango Gang & lastly ST6!

If you think your ride has what it takes to be on our site make sure to email us a few photos to snfeatures@gmail.com! Don't forget to tell us a bit about your ride too!

MURKED OUT.

We've been working with our friends at iAcrophobia lately on showcasing some of their rides on our site. Today we'll take a look at a car that has been the talk of Internet ever since we posted it on our facebook couple of weeks ago. What we have for you here is one of the most "aggressive" looking Civic's we've seen in a while. When we say "aggressive" we're referring to the overall presence of the car not necessarily it's fitment. This blacked out beauty has been Rocky Chen's daily driver for a little over a year now and we have a feeling that most of Beijing (Rockys hometown) has trouble identifying it! Let's take a closer look at some of the modifications that Rocky added!

Photos By: iAcrophobia exclusively for StanceNation.com

We've seen Japanese build "USDM" style cars and surprisingly many Chinese are following the trend. Rocky tells us that seeing all the stanced Civics stateside inspired him to build one for himself. He also tells us the fact that Civics are pretty economical and practical vehicles it was a win-win situation. Take a look at the photo below!

It all started with the Air Force Air Suspension and slowly worked it's way into a set of fresh kicks. Going with a blacked out theme Rocky added a set of black ESM 002R's! Fronts sit at 17×8.5 with an offset of 8 while the rears sit at 17×10 with an offset of 10. Not the the lowest offset numbers or widest wheels by any means yet it still manages to sit just right! We also love the fact that it's fenders don't appear to have been excessively pulled or flared.

After wheels & suspension it was time to add some exterior touches so a new Mugen RR Bumper was added up front and a Voltex rear diffuser in the rear. In our opinion that diffuser is what makes this car so ridiculously awesome. With it literally sweeping the ground when the car is aired out, it's one awesome Civic that looks like it means business. Rocky also swapped out the stock trunk and tails with a set from an FD2 of course. A touch of JDM, and a touch of USDM, we love.

Ultimately, Rocky would like to track the car but that won't be until after he gets a Type R K20A engine that he has planned. For now though, he'll have to stick to couple of simple bolt-ons. KN69 Intake accompanied by Aspec Exhaust Manifold and FGK Trust Catback System do the job for now.

Interior is relatively stock besides the Bride racing seats. We're definitely looking forward to what the future holds for Rocky. Don't be surprised if you see this thing back on StanceNation in the near future looking even more badass!

With that said, we would like to give a huge shout out to the iAcro crew, especially Rocky and our good friend Rilber! We'll leave you with a few more photos like we always do. Don't forget to email us at snfeatures@gmail.com if you think your ride has what it takes to be on our site! As you already know by now, we are always looking for new cars to feature.
