My wifes Mini Mayfair 1.3i started blowing smoke on start up.
The valve oil seals are no-longer sealing !

So while exchanging the seals I decided to de-coke the cylinder head.
I was surprised to see so much carbon was encrusted when i removed the cyliner head.
Time to re-lap the valve seats, replace the valve springs and valve oil seals.

No tuning at the moment, this Mini will need a complete engine and gearbox overhaul when i finally finish my own mini.

Ah , when will that be ?

I want to drive it during the new year holiday lol

僕の奥さんのミニメイフェア1.3iが、始動時にマフラーから煙を吐くようになりました。
バルブオイルシールが仕事をしていないようです。

シールを交換するついでに、シリンダーヘッドのデコーク(decoke：カーボン除去)をすることにしました。
シリンダーヘッドを外してビックリ、カーボンが一杯付着しています。
バルブシートを研磨してバルブスプリングとオイルシールを交換するときです。

僕が自分のミニを仕上げたら、このミニにはエンジンとギアボックスのコンプリート・オーバーホールが必要になってくるから、今はチューニングはしません。

って、あー...仕上がるのはいつのことやら

ニューイヤー・ホリデイのころにはドライブしたいです

All the old engine and front subframe mounts have been changed.
The old ones were in quite bad condition lol

Now i have just noticed white smoke from the exhaust when i start the engine every morning.

New valve stem seals will be fitted and a cylinder head de-coke in a weeks time.
At least there are 2 days when the car is not needed.

I wish i could find time to work on my own mini :-(


エンジンとフロントサブフレームの古いマウントは全部取りかえました。
古いのは非常に状態がよろしくなくて　lol

で、毎朝エンジンをかけるたびマフラーから出る白いケムリにやっと気付きました。

新品のバルブステムシールを付けてシリンダーヘッドの掃除を一週間以内にする予定。
車で出る必要のない日が2日ほどあるので。

僕のミニにとりかかる時間も、できるとよいのですが　:-(

The FN centre design is now made for normal 4 wheel stud fitting, and new to the 10inch size is the V5 centre design which has only been made in 13 inch size until now.

Force-Racing wheels are now also available in a choice of 15 colours.
Silver, Gold, Black, Blue, Red, Green, Violet, Gunmetal, Titanium, Grey, Orange, Lime-Green, Olive Brown, Pink & Turquoise.

FNセンターにノーマルの4ホイールスタッド用がでました。
今まで13インチサイズしかなかったV5センターにも10インチサイズが加わりました。

フォースレーシングホイールは15種類のカラーから選べるようになりました。
シルバー、ゴールド、ブラック、ブルー、レッド、グリーン、バイオレット、ガンメタル、チタン、グレー、オレンジ、ライムグリーン、オリーブブラウン、ピンク、ターコイズ

Fitting new silicone radiator hoses from Artel Motorsport in UK.
This time I had some company from Tama-chan.
She slept through the whole thing including my cursing when I was refitting the radiator.
As always a few mm of skin is sliced of my knuckles while trying to place the radiator into position.

Also changed the standard air filter to a K&N filter.

Sometime soon the engine will need an overhaul, she has done 93000km.
Better finish my other Mini first.

I always need to be able to drive at least one Mini a day for my addicition.



アーテル(Artel Motorsport)のシリコン製ラジエーターホースを取り付けました。
今回のお伴はタマちゃん。
僕が悪態つきながらラジエーターを取り付けているあいだもずっと眠ったまんまでした。

毎度のことながらラジエーターを元の場所に戻すときに手(ナックル)の皮を数mmスライスしました

ホースの交換と一緒に、普通のフィルターからK&Nのフィルターに交換しました。

もうすぐエンジンもオーバーホールしないといけませんが(もう93,000km)
その前にもう一台のミニの方を仕上げてしまわないと

ミニ依存症？だから少なくとも一日一台は運転できるようにしておく必要があるんです。

I have driven my wifes Mini for over 5 years and never used the air cooler .

I finally decided to remove the complete air cooling system and found it weighs 19.4kg.

Maybe the fuel economy will improve a bit.

At least the ECU will be cooler after the air flow from the grille.

Plus maintenance is going to be a lot easier.

I also fitted a new ignition coil with Splitfire Plugs and leads which sorted an intermittent engine misfire.



ツマのミニを5年以上運転してるけど、クーラーを使ったことは一度もない。

というわけで、ついにクーラーを取り外すことに決めました。

取り外したシステム一式の重さは19.4kg。

燃費がちょっとは良くなるかも

とりあえずECUは風通しがよくなって涼しくなるでしょう

そして何よりメンテナンス(←エンジンルームに手を突っ込む)がとても
楽になるでしょう


ついでに、不規則にでてくるミスファイヤを解決するため、新しいスプリット
ファイア(Splitfire)プラグ＆プラグコード、ルーカスのイグニッションコイルも
取り付けてみました。
