Tomorrow is Hot Import Nights, it is the largest auto competition of the year in Los Angeles. There will be hundreds of cars, lots of import female models, and vendors on display. I will be displaying my car as a guest of a local car group :) Today we all had to take our cars into the Los Angeles Convention Center to set up and clean our cars. The cars must remain in the convention center over night for the show tomorrow. I only took a couple of pictures during the pre-registration, and will take many more pictures tomorrow.

Today it was very hot - but I spent all day outside installing my Tein Basics. There was a few small problems, but nothing too bad. I followed the recommended settings in the direction provided by Tein, and the car is too low in the front. I think it looks cool, but I can't drive over the speed bumps in my parking area without scraping my bumper and side skirts - so tomorrow I will figure out how to raise the front a little.

I forgot to take a picture of the rear suspension after I installed the Tein system. I will take a picture tomorrow.

I really like the feeling of the new parts! I drove home almost 40 miles, and took the side roads that are very windy. The suspension is firm, but not too stiff... so far I like it, and ot will be perfect if I can adjust the front higher.

Today my new Tein Basics arrived for the G35! I was originally looking at the Tein CS coilovers, but I got these for a very good price from a friend of mine. I will only lower it to the recommended setting, or maybe even a little less for daily driving (my front bumper is very low already on stock suspension, 4.5 inches), and for car shows I will lower it more. I will install them this weekend!

I went to the Spocom car show yesterday, and had a great time! It was the premiere event for Spocom, and it was a success - lots of vendors, and many cars. My friend Gabe from the car club "Intrigue" invited me and gave me a pass for the show. I got to see all of the new products, look at all the cars, and meet the models :) Unfortunately Marty's car was not at the event... I don't know why, but it will be at the Hot Import Nights car show on August 25th. I will be displaying my car for show at that show along side Marty and Viet's car - I'll take tons of pictures at that event!

Spocom pictures

Today I finished installing the gauges and hooking up the cooling fans. Unfortunately my DIF fan control unit is broken (I purchased it brand new, so I will return it), so I only have the fans running by a manual switch right now.

I cleaned all of the old parts out of the car, reinstalled the bumper, fixed my power steering leak, and finally got to drive the car! I drove it to my friends mechanic shop so he could check my work on his car lift - and he said everything was perfect :)

The car is so much more fun to drive now with the sr20det! The old KA24e engine was old and not in very good shape... so the car felt very slow. Now it feels much faster... the turbo spools up very fast and the car pulls very hard. I currently have the boost controller set to 14psi, and it seems perfect!!! I had to drive it kind of slowly because I need to break the clutch in, but you can feel the power even at low speeds - I'm very happy with everything!

Tomorrow I will go to the Spocom car show in Long Beach. Marty's car will be featured at the Nitto tire booth, so I will post lots of pictures.
