The last time I purchased new tires for the Infiniti G35 I was still driving it to work everyday, and occasionally driving it on the race track. I chose a tire that would be suitable for both uses, and was very happy with the Hankook RS-3 tires. Since the G35 is now dedicated to track use, I decided on a R compound tire - the Hankook Ventus Z214.

These tires should be a big improvement over the RS3's, and offer much more grip with the 40 treadwear rating!

I finally finished welding all pieces of the DSE Quadralink rear end suspension, and installed all rear arms to check fitment. All parts fit very nicely! I must send the rear end housing back to Currie Engineering so they can bend it and make it straight, and shorten the overall length.

The Detroit Speed rear crossmember and the close out (reinforcement pieces) are now welded in. Under the ceossmember I also welded in the upper shock mounts ( I'll post up more pictures from underneath the car this weekend).



Last week I ordered a Currie F9 fabricated Ford 9" rear end. It will arrive full length without axle ends. Once I install the suspension brackets, I will take the rear back to currie and have them cut it to a custom length and weld on the housing ends. This rear end should be able to handle very high horsepower and racing conditions.

Along with the housing, I also ordered a Strange Engineering nodular iron case. I'm not sure which type of differential or which gear ratio I'm going to use yet, but at least with the rear end and case I can mock up everything and get the car back on the ground.

To install the new rear suspension, I first had to cutout and remove the factory wheel wells and install a modified frame rail. The larger wheel wells and frame rails will allow for larger wheels and tires. Once the frame rail modification was complete, I removed the rear support area to make room for the new crossmember. Here you can see the rear area that was removed.


Here is the new crossmember trimmed and fit into place. The new crossmember is the main piece for the new suspension. Once it is installed, the rest of the suspension install should be a little quicker.

Now that my garage workspace is finished, I will finally start installing my Detroit Speed Quadralink rear suspension. This should greatly improve the rear suspension and handling of the car. The original style suspension was a rear leaf spring type. This new suspension changes all of the geometry and changes to an adjustable coilover type. The only problem is that it will require a lot of work to install!
