Mercedes-Benz SLK280 (R171).
Not every drive needs a destination.
Sometimes, I simply start the engine, lower the roof, and see where the road leads.
And lately, I've been recording some of those journeys.
The camera is an Insta360 Ace Pro 2.
Mounted inside the SLK, it quietly watches the road ahead while I drive.
I'm not trying to record everything.
A winding road.
A changing sky.
The sound of the V6.
A landscape that disappears into the mirror.
Most of these moments are ordinary.
And perhaps that's exactly why they're worth keeping.
Twenty years from now, the specifications of this car will still be written somewhere.
3.0-liter naturally aspirated V6.
Seven-speed automatic.
Two-seat roadster.
But specifications won't remember what the road looked like that afternoon.
The camera will.
Some roads are meant to be driven.
Some are worth remembering.

ドライブに、いつも目的地が必要なわけではない。
エンジンを始動する。
ルーフを開ける。
そして、その日の道に任せて走る。
最近は、そんな時間を少しずつ映像にも残している。
使っているのは、Insta360 Ace Pro 2。
SLKの車内に取り付け、走っている間、前方の景色を静かに記録している。
すべてを残したいわけではない。
ワインディング。
変わっていく空。
V6の音。
ミラーの向こうへ消えていく景色。
そのほとんどは、何でもない瞬間だ。
だからこそ、残しておく意味があるのかもしれない。
20年後でも、このクルマのスペックはどこかに記録されているだろう。
3.0L 自然吸気V6。
7速AT。
2シーター・ロードスター。
でも、その日の午後にどんな景色の中を走ったのか。
スペック表は、そこまでは覚えてくれない。
カメラなら、残しておける。
走るための道がある。
そして、記憶に残しておきたい道がある。

Q1.CERAMIQS H3を試してみたい理由を教えてください
回答：20年という時間を、新車のように消したいわけではありません。
2005年式 Mercedes-Benz SLK280（R171）。
長い時間を経たこのクルマの塗装を、これから先もできるだけ良い状態で残していきたいと考えています。
CERAMIQS H3を施工することで、20年を経たシルバーのボディにどのような艶や質感の変化が現れるのか。そして、その状態をどこまで維持できるのか。
単に「綺麗になった」で終わらせるのではなく、施工前、施工直後、その後の状態まで記録してみたいと思い、応募しました。

Q2.プロ用コーティング剤の施工経験談と使用した商品名を教えてください
回答：プロ用コーティング剤の施工経験はありません。
これまで日常的な洗車や簡単なボディケアは行ってきましたが、本格的なコーティング剤を自分で施工するのは今回が初めてになります。
だからこそ、初めて施工する一般ユーザーの視点から、作業のしやすさ、仕上がり、そして施工後の変化を率直に記録してみたいと思っています。

Not every moment with a car happens behind the wheel.
Sometimes, it's just a little maintenance between drives.
Today, the tires.
To be honest, I'm not particularly devoted to any specific tire cleaner. This is simply the one I happened to use.
No elaborate detailing routine.
No search for the perfect shine.
Just clean the tires, bring back a natural black, and move on.
I don't want them excessively glossy anyway.
The important part isn't the bottle.
It's noticing the small things before getting back behind the wheel.
Drive it.
Take care of it.
Then drive it again.
Not every detail needs an obsession.
Sometimes, simple is enough.

クルマとの時間は、走っている時だけではない。
走らない時間に、少しだけ手を入れる。
今日は、タイヤ。
とはいえ、タイヤクリーナーそのものに強いこだわりがあるわけではない。
今回使ったのも、数ある製品の中のひとつ。
特別な手順もない。
完璧な艶を追い求めるつもりもない。
汚れを落として、タイヤが自然な黒さに戻れば、それで十分だ。
そもそも、過剰なテカリは必要ない。
大切なのは、何を使ったかではなく、時々こうして小さなところに目を向けること。
走る。
手を入れる。
そして、また走る。
すべてに、こだわる必要はない。
シンプルで十分なこともある。

The V6 gets the attention.
The steering gives the feedback.
The suspension controls the movement.
But in the end, only four small patches of rubber actually touch the road.

Quietness and comfort matter to me, especially in a roadster that isn't trying to prove how fast it can be.
The SLK280 is twenty years old now.
I don't need to make it harder, louder, or more aggressive.
I want to preserve what this machine does well — and let the road come through without unnecessary noise.
Sometimes, refinement isn't about adding something.
It's about removing what gets in the way.
The machine speaks through the road.
The tires decide how much of it we hear.

路面を伝えるのはステアリング。
動きを支配するのはサスペンション。
けれど最後に道と接しているのは、わずか4つの小さな接地面だけだ。
REGNO GR-XIII。
ロードスターだからこそ、静粛性と乗り心地は大切にしたい。
20年を経たSLK280に、硬さも、大きな音も、過剰な刺激も求めてはいない。
この機械がもともと持っているものを残しながら、余計なノイズだけを遠ざける。
上質さとは、何かを足すことだけではない。
時には、邪魔なものを取り除くことでもある。
機械は、道を通して語りかける。
どこまでその声を聞かせるかは、タイヤが決める。

Twenty years don't always reveal themselves through major failures.
Sometimes, it's something much smaller.
This time, the hood struts.
Replaced with MEYLE units — 049 910 0004 / 300N.
They don't make the car faster.
They don't change the sound of the V6.
Most people will never even notice them.
But open the hood, and something feels right again.
That's part of living with an older machine.
Not replacing everything.
Not chasing perfection.
Just noticing what time has changed, putting it right, and moving on.
Twenty years leave their mark.
One detail at a time, the machine returns.

時には、もっと小さなところに現れる。
今回は、ボンネットダンパー。
MEYLE製 049 910 0004 / 300Nへ交換。
速くなるわけではない。
V6の音が変わるわけでもない。
おそらく、誰にも気づかれない。
それでもボンネットを開ければ、何かが本来の感触に戻ったことがわかる。
古い機械と付き合うということは、そういうことなのだと思う。
すべてを交換するわけではない。
完璧を追い求めるわけでもない。
時間が変えたものに気づき、必要なところだけを元へ戻す。
そして、また走る。
