That Old School Flavor

That Old School Flavor

We don't really think this car need an introduction or any of this stuff that you're reading, so we'll try to make this write up rather quick and to the point. The car belongs to our forum member Ryan out of Washington, and it's a 1989 Mazda RX7 GXL that's in as good of a condition as it was rolling off the showroom floor. Believe it or not, just four months ago he purchased this thing bone stock from an old lady who has owned it since new, but just look how it sits now. Proper car, proper stance, what's better than that? Check out the awesome pictures & some of the stuff Ryan added to this thing, below.

The car is sitting on Volk Racing Gt-U in 18x9 & 18x10, and Stance gR+ coilovers. Every little thing Ryan added to his car is just awesome but nothing is over the top. He tells us that he tried to keep the body pieces simple by avoiding big wide front and rear bumpers and all the other unnecessary stuff.

Sitting Right:
Volk Racing Gt-U 18x9 (+13) & 18x10 (+8)
215/40/18 & 225/4018 tires
Stance GR+ Coilovers
Racing Beat front & rear sway bars
Cusco front & rear strut bars

Some of the exterior customizations were the Turbo2 hood (which we love by the way!) and a full Shine Auto kit including the front lip, sideskirts, rear end caps & roof spoiler. We still can't believe that this car is over 20 years old! Make sure you hit the Read More button for some more awesome pictures!

As one of our forum members (Hypertek) says, we definitely need more FC's like these in the states. The community is mostly built up by folks who would complain a cheap set of rims is too much and that 17's are way too big, or old men who look at the FC's as a cheap collectible sports car. Well we're definitely honored to be posting this car on Stance:Nation, hopefully it will inspire other FC owners to get on it and build an even better car. While the interior is pretty stock, one of the most recent additions was a set of Sparco Torino2 seats and Nardi classic wheel.

For the exhaust system Ryan went with Apexi N1 dual cat-back, and he also added the Corksport header & race mid-pipe. Yes it sounds awesome, but it's just temporary. When we asked Ryan what other plans he has for the car, he told us that as soon as the finances are available he plans on dropping an LS1 motor in and doing some more stuff to the interior! Of course, we'll keep you guys updated on that, and hopefully we can do another shoot when the car is done.

We'll leave you with a couple more pictures of Ryan's fitment and a great shot that shows the aggressive rear of the car. You can also go to our Flickr to check out a few more more pictures from this photo shoot. We would like to thank Ryan for his time, and for allowing us to share his car with all of you. Also, as always, a big thanks to Jonathan Ray out of Washington for the awesome photography. If you think you have a car that deserves a feature on our site, make sure you shoot us an email!

Lower than you.

Lower than you.Check out Casey's incredible MK2 taking what appears to be a quick nap on the ground. This thing is straight up perfection with it's custom set of Fittipaldi wheels and that amazing "Dutch Oven" (as he likes to call it!) paint job. Smoothed out rear end and extremely awesome fender flares make this sexy Euro an instant you-know-what dropper. Way to go Casey, we're absolutely blown away!

Phoenix Built

Phoenix Built

Owning a minivan here in the states will put you right up there with all the soccer moms. In reality, we all know that that's really not the truth, it's honestly just how the media, internet and all the youngsters out there portray things. It's definitely not the same story in Japan though. Japanese have been modding minivans for decades, and owning a minivan just means more space for the groceries. We first posted the YouTube video of Nakamuras Odyssey RB1 a couple of weeks ago where we saw him literally hovering on Japan's highways, sitting just millimeters off the ground. Fast forward a few days, Nakamura sees his video on Stance:Nation and this is where we end up. We not only put a smile on your guys' faces with the video, but we also made yet another awesome friend 1000's miles away! The power of Internet is simply mind boggling. Check out these awesome photos that Nakamura asked us to share with you guys. Drop a comment below, feel free to let him know how awesome this thing is!

Photos By: Nakamura exclusively for StanceNation.com

Phoenix is the shop that does most of the work for Nakamura, hence the vinyl's. Watching that video almost had us convinced that this minivan was bagged, but Nakamura tells us that he is actually rolling static on HKS Coilovers! That's pretty nuts considering this is his daily driver and family hauler! There isn't a better feeling than getting dropped off at school in something like this, don't you agree?

Not too long ago, he upgraded his wheels to these sexy SSR Professor SP3's in 19x9 (0) up front and 19x10 (+9) in the rear. The tires are 215/35's and 235/35's which seem like they have just the right stretch. Nakamura has owned this minivan for over 3 years and has gone through several stages, so it's just a matter of time before he does something completely different yet again. Either way, we'll definitely be on the lookout for it, but in the meantime hit the Read More button below for some more pictures.

Inspired by European rides, the exterior features a Mercedes Benz E-Class LED fog lights, C-Class hood duct, slightly radiused fenders to house the 19" SP3's and widened one off trunk so Nakamura can rock the German plate. The front and rear bumpers are also one off, which is just amazing considering their "OEM-like" pressence. Up next, Nakamura will focus more on the interior as well as a whole new exhaust.

We want to thank our friend Anju for helping us make this happen as well as Nakamura for showing us love and support! Nakamura wanted us to give a shout out to all of his friends that assisted him with the build as well as Phoenix for all their work! Until next week, we'll see you next time Japan!
