Green x Gold // VW Scirocco

Here is a 2009 Scirocco 2.0 GT TDi that practically stole the recent MIVW show! The Viper Green paint and the custom gold finished Rotifom TMB's were a match made in heaven. 19x9 & 19x10 with 225/35 & 235/35 tires and dumped on the ground with the help of Air-lift digital easy street set up, this bad boy is easily one of the best looking Scirocco's we've ever seen. What we found pretty cool was that the owner (Lee Morgan) redid the whole interior using the original '78 VW Scirocco cloth! Also, a touch of carbon fiber was added to the front grill, mirrors & rear window surroundings which we love very much. Lastly, he cleaned the whole exterior up by shaving off things like the front plate and all the unwanted badges. Hit the Read More button for more photos and big shout out to Ronald & Lee Morgan!

SpoCom 2011 Photo Coverage

The last couple of days leading up to Spocom were a little hectic and stressful for me since I was scrambling to get my wheels back from DPE and finish up some last minute cleaning. Living only 20 minutes from Willow Springs Raceway has its advantages, and the disadvantage is that I have to travel 2+ hours to go to meets and shows. Since Spocom was the first time I would be showing with Team RareJDM, I had to make sure I made it. The show started at 4pm and ended at 11pm. Roll-in started at 9am and we were the “lucky” ones to make it in first. We watched everyone else roll in, get set up, and then we just waited for the party to start! 4 o’clock came around and people started piling in. By 6, the place was crowded and photo-taking became really difficult. It was a good time even though there were more non-‘fitted’ cars than fitted cars, but still some beautiful setups nonetheless. I ran in to Aaron from DPE and Will from SP Engineering and we took a “tour” of the VIP lounge. While I was up there I managed to snap a couple shots of the entire venue. Hope you enjoy my coverage!

MIVW 2011 Photo Coverage // Part 1

Men in Volkswagen, also known as MIVW is one of the largest VW gathering in Holland. When it comes to quality & quantity, many like to compare it to the Worthersee [1,2]. Some of Europes finest Volkswagens gather in from several countries for this event and as the photos will show, MIVW never disappoints. What's amazing is that just a few years ago a bunch of friends decided to throw a small event in Holland and this is what it has turned into just 7 years later. Anyway, enjoy the first set of photos below. We'll have more in the next couple of days along with a few exclusive spotlights.

Ballin' on a budget!

While we all love seeing "expensive" builds and "unique" cars, the fact is that majority of us just can't afford to (or choose not to) spend as much money on their cars as others. Some prefer to go the more simpler route such as Miguel Vazquez out of Miami, Florida with his 93' Honda Civic Hatchback. OEM+ as some of us like to call it. By no means are we talking down on high end builds, we just feel that there are a lot of awesome looking cars out there that are not getting any exposure simply because they're on a budget. With that said, please allow us to show you Miguel's pan scraping, street sweeping and ridiculously low Honda Civic that pretty much left us wanting one ourselves.

Miguel's hatchback is straight up "dumped" on the ground as you can see. It's sitting on a set of Diamond Racing Steelies and looking good doing it! They are 15×8 up front (5 offset) with 165/45 tires and 15×10 in the rear (-5 offset) with 195/45 tires. It honestly seems like the "steelies" phase came and left, though some cars can still pull it off such as this particular one. The funny thing is that these wheels are already off the car and a new set should be on very soon. Miguel also played around with the interior and added the Nardi Woodgrain, EDM Center Console and EDM VTi Cluster. It's simple yet fresh at the same time. Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

As you can tell, the exterior is pretty simple. Up front you have the OEM SiR front lip and EDM Corner Lights while on the sides and rear you can see the EDM Tailgate + Rear Fog, EDM optional bumper moldings and OEM Honda Mud flaps that he uses to sweep the streets of Miami! So there you have it, a car a lot of us can relate to. A car that looks good without rocking $4k set of wheels. A car that will break your neck if you're lucky enough to see it in person. We really hope this hatch encourages you and at the same time shows you that you can ball on a budget. Hit the Read More button below for more photos including a couple awesome rolling shots.
