This image shows the engine head with replaced camshafts installed with new oil seals. The red colored grease is assembly lube and is compatible with engine oil when engine is ran for the first time. I used different camshafts from an ST162 Celica GT-S I found in the junkyard over in Los Angeles, California :) The original camshafts from the engine were corroded and rusty from storage and shipping from Japan.
Top-down closeup of both camshafts installed in the 3S-GE head. The valves were easy to adjust using a special Toyota SST valve adjuster tool, part number: 09248-70011. The valves are the "shim over bucket"type which enables high RPM operation due to lower mass than hydraulic valves with rocker arms as found in the 1S and 2S-E engines.

Intake and exhaust manifolds installed, as well as the new original spark plug wire set and distributor cap and rotor. Red is the original color for these parts!
The exhaust manifold is a nicely designed 4-2-1 system for high speed operation, featuring a cast 4 into 2 manifold, similarly shaped like a tubular header. I painted the manifold with high temperature paint to protect the exterior surfaces :)
