ある日突然、右の電動ミラーが動かなかったり、開閉が遅くなったので、先週末、販売店で見てもらいました。

「ミラーをどこかにぶつけましたか？」と聞かれたので、一年前に家族が壁にぶつけたと伝えたら、ミラーカバーがズレていて動く度に可動部が干渉していますとのことでした。ミラーカバーを再度つけ直してもらい直りました。とりあえず故障じゃなくて良かった。しかも洗車もしてもらったのに無料。

I have embarked on an exploration of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and am currently delving into the realm of generative AI—a journey I find most exhilarating. My initial endeavor involved training a model to transform images into a style reminiscent of Monet's work. However, it did not meet with substantial success.

I built a CycleGAN, drawing upon insights from a tutorial, and after several attempts and considerable time invested, I achieved my initial goal, however, I cannot say my work is perfect.

By the way, have my recent blog posts been related to cars? Your answer should be "No." Since our car was switched to W222 Mercedes S-Class, my definition of a car has changed, it is now a common tool for the family. Safety, comfort, and loading capacity are important.

Last weekend, I underwent the annual maintenance of our vehicle at the authorized dealership. The servicing included the replacement of consumables such as engine oil, oil filters, and windshield wiper rubbers, in addition to a comprehensive car wash. Notably, these maintenance services were offered at no additional charge, being covered by the initial cost of the vehicle. The inspection revealed no particular mechanical or operational anomalies.
During my time at the dealership, I observed a non-native Japanese customer interact with the staff, who appeared to struggle significantly with English communication with the customer. This observation brings to light the importance of linguistic versatility in customer service roles, emphasizing that proficiency in a language can be attained through sustained practice and real-world exposure.
This account touches on multiple topics of academic interest, ranging from consumer behavior in the automotive industry to the efficacy of after-sales services, and it extends to the role of language proficiency in global commerce and customer relations.

I am currently engaged in an assignment focused on Deep Learning, specifically a Kaggle Competition centered around Histopathologic Cancer Detection. Several models are accessible via TensorFlow, and I have been diligently exploring and refining my approach to understanding algorithms, conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), building and training models, and tuning hyperparameters. Initially, I configured my system with an Intel ARC A750 GPU. However, after numerous attempts and evaluations, I have transitioned to an NVIDIA GPU, which integrates CUDA cores.
While the Intel GPU can be deployed for machine learning tasks, it poses several constraints, including compatibility with plugins and supported versions of TensorFlow. Moreover, I have observed commendable performance when utilizing a CPU, specifically Core i7-13700K(Raptor Lake), in conjunction with OneAPI (oneDNN), especially when drawing comparisons between CPU and GPU performances.





The subsequent assignment will encompass Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) within the framework of a Kaggle competition. This will offer an opportune platform to apply, analyze, and evaluate various models and methodologies inherent to NLP and GAN, thereby furthering my comprehension and mastery in these domains.

八月末に夏休みを取得しました。

仕事関係でペナンに行くので、前後に休みを追加して、コタキナバル → ペナン → シンガポールを周遊してきました。

コタキナバルは南国なので時間がゆっくりと流れています。何事もなんくるないさーという感じ。


ホテル近くにビーチが無いので、ツアーでサピ島に行ってきました。海がきれいでシュノーケリングも楽しめます。

現地には海鮮レストランが数多くあり、その中でもGoogleのレビュー評価の高いKK Garden Seafoodに行ってきました。当店は新鮮ですとの触れ込み通り水槽の魚介類を調理してくれます。


マレーシアと言えば肉骨茶(バクテー)なので、ホテル近くの繁盛店に行ってきました。全席オープンテラス風の道端に面したお店です。

お決まりのちょっぴり味のある日本語もみかけました。Ochaking お茶を入れた という屋号のお店ですが、メインはSushiです。(寿司ではなくSushi=マレーシア風寿司)


ペナンは仕事で何度も訪れていますが、家族旅行で行くのは初めてです。金曜日夜と週末、現地の仕事仲間に島内観光に連れていってもらいました。マレーシアの人はホスピタリティがすごいです。初めて対面で会う現地人のひとりはタトゥーしてました。奥様も見事なタトゥー。こちらではあちこちにタトゥーショップがあり、特別なものではないようです。日本でタトゥーしてもらうとどのくらいかかるの？と聞かれましたが、日本ではタトゥーをしたことがないのでわからないと答えておきました。

最終渡航地のシンガポールはコナンの映画の舞台にもなったマリーナ・ベイ・サンズに宿泊しました。サービスのレベルが高いです。屋上の無限プールもなかなか面白いです。マリーナ・ベイ・三途に行くときは事前にメイド喫茶で冥土の土産を購入したほうが良いかと思いますが、今回は手ぶらでした。


マレーシア・シンガポールは東京の夏より涼しいです。避暑地に最適？

日本に到着したら空港で係員に英語で話しかけられました。日本で日本人に英語で話しかけられたのは初めてではありません。
ペナンでは中国語(福建語)で話かけられたので、私はアジア系外国人に見えるのかもしれません。
