Aston Martin will be taking the covers off the new DBS Volante at the 2009 Geneva International Motor Show. The DBS Volante is AM's 16th convertible in its 95 year history and represents the ultimate combination of luxury with open air sports car performance. The motorised retractable fabric roof can be opened in just 14 seconds and stows away under the newly sculpted tonneau.

Powered by Aston Martin's 6.0-litre V12 engine with 510bhp (380kW) and 570Nm (420 lb ft) of torque, the Volante is not just a poser's car. Naught to 100km/h comes in 4.3 seconds and top end is 307km/h (191mph). It's a proper performance GT with two rear seats though Aston does concede the rear seats won't be as spacious as those of a normal sedan. This is not a normal car however, it's a DBS Volante.

The two available gearbox choices are a 6-speed manual and an automatic six-speed ‘Touchtronic' that can be engaged via paddles. Keeping the car on the road are 8.5' x 20 Pirelli P Zero 245/35 front wheels and tyres as well as 11 x 20 Pirelli P Zero 295/30 at the rear. Stopping power comes from carbon ceramic brakes. Engineers have utilised measures like carbon fiber front wings, boot lid and bonnet to reduce weight. In the end it weighs 1810kg which is similar to mid-sized German luxury sedans.

Inside passengers get comfortable to features like the Bang & Olufsen's BeoSound 13-speaker sound system, integrated iPod connector, a USB connector and a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) satellite navigation system.

Bentley's most powerful road car ever has broken cover following recent teasers. The Continental Supersports is the absolute pinnacle of the Bentley brand in performance terms. It combines the look of a GT with the luxury of what the company stands for. The name Supersports is inspired by the original 1925 3.0-litre two-seater car.

The Supersports can run on either petrol or E85 biofuel which makes it the first FlexFuel-capable Bentley. That pushes the twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine to a power output figure of 630PS (463kW) and maximum torque of 800Nm (590 lb ft) made at a lowly 1,700rpm. Performance is posted as 3.7 seconds for the 0 - 60mph and 3.9 seconds for the 0 - 100km/h sprints. Bentley's initial average fuel consumption figures are 17.3 mpg (16.3 litres/100km).

Bentley's all-wheel-drive system is 40/60 rear-biased. It uses an uprated front suspension with aluminium forward levers, stiffer bushings and Servotronic steering. Exterior appointments include two new colours, dual bonnet vents, a restyled rear bumper and a new front bumper with bigger air intake grilles.

The sporting character of the Bentley Supersports is also highlighted by lightweight 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels running on 275/35 ZR20 Pirelli Ultra High Performance tyres. For stopping power the car comes standard with the largest and most powerful carbon ceramic brakes fitted to a production car which shave off 20 kg (44 lb) off the car's mass.

The interior fuses sport with comfort by featuring things like a carbon fiber fascia, diamond quilted Alcantara sports seats and an optional 15-speaker Bentley sound system.

『ロールスロイスにコンパクトサルーン新登場』

ロールスロイスは19日、スタディモデル『200EX』を発表、ジュネーブモーターショーで正式公開される。現行『ファントム』よりもひと回り小さいボディを持つロールスロイスの新シリーズだ。

EXという名称はロールスロイスのスタディモデルに付けられる伝統のネーミング。2010年に発売予定の市販モデルでは別の車名が採用される。

200EXのボディサイズは全長5399×全幅1948×全高1550mm、ホイールベース3295mm。ファントム（全長5835×全幅1990×全高1655mm、ホイールベース3570mm）と比較すると、436mm短く、42mm狭く、105mm低い。ホイールベースは275mmコンパクトだ。

ファントムよりもひと回り小さいとはいえ、そのルックスは紛れもなくロールスロイス。ファントムと共通イメージのグリル、力強く伸びやかなボディラインなどが圧倒的な存在感を生んでいる。ヘッドランプには流行のLEDが使用された。

インテリアもロールスロイスらしいクラフトマンシップにあふれた仕上がり。レザーやウッドなど最高の素材が導入される。リアドアが逆ヒンジで開閉するのもファントムと同様で、高い乗降性を実現している。

メカニズムの詳細はエンジンがV12であること意外、公表されていない。しかし、関係者によると、シャシーはBMW『7シリーズ』をベースにしているのは確実。タイヤサイズは前255/45R20、後ろ285/40R20サイズが装着される。

200EXは3月3日に開幕するジュネーブモーターショーで正式公開。9月のフランクフルトモーターショーでは市販バージョンが披露される見込みだ。ロールスロイス初のコンパクトサルーンは、要注目の存在といえる。
