Car accident in Kyoto

Over 1,5 ton heavy body weight and big powered sport car cannot be controlled by a layman who is 18 years old just after obtaining one year ago. Deeper consideration on this problem by the manufacturer Nissan Motor Co. would be required without no argument. Young kid like this driver cannot control his car as well as his own emotional condition at all.

Vehicles & old songs

About VW1302 Super Beetle, a strange habit to run left side when braking has disappeared completely after some distance running and additional maintenance on rear brake system disassembling attained tight and definite feeling on brake pedal working with very slight step sense compared with side brake operation. On the other hand, stability while straight running does not come to the same level with BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model, XH200 B-Vectra and SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza in spite of precise adjustments of wheel alignment and axle constructive geometry. Once adjusted on those indispensable constructions, the condition does not change after some distance of use, this is because the tire treads wears as it is in good conditions. The reason why only old Beetle cannot obtain the stable condition dues to the neglect of replacing the rear trailing arm hinge bushes into new ones, so I guess. I must proceed to the complicated and hard muscle work sooner or later.

The wiring of a 40W fluorescent lamp electric stabilizer mechanism torn of in the module was tested if it is alive or not by digging into hardened resin material resulting in that was alive. This will be set on the deepest portion of my garage with additional wiring with switch saving money about 2,000yen. This work would be performed tomorrow.

Recently I am addicted in YouTube, Mireille Mathieu while she was young in full bloom, that nothing but wonderful at all! When I was young I had often enjoyed LP Records with Tube low frequency amplifier. I have realized again that the power of a song entertains me much more with movies.

Autumn and tired a bit

Fine and refreshing weather we have this morning feeling some astringency and far cooler air, no cloud is found high up in the sky, actually we have gotten true Autumn season. A poetry came into my mind, "Tsuki idete taifuu ikka Koorogi naku", in Kanji, "月出でて台風一過蟋蟀鳴く", the meaning in English is like this, After the storm, the Moon is in the sky and the weather condition is calm and stable as to be discerned the voice of Crickets in the Autumn evening.

My garage had been occupied by my son these two holidays, he used my servicing pit to maintain his car that had been modified into specific purpose for his hobby playing, enjoying drifting technique in the closed circuit. '97 TOYOTA Cresta 2,5L with manual trans-axle, shock absorbers and suspension spring are changed into 3rd party products. In spite of very rough use, he insisted to adjust and establish wheel alignment and axle geometric construction, so I did assist him ultimately from early in the morning till late at night being exhausted. A Radiator electric fan module that had been removed because of circuit running purpose was set as that was and worn ISCV diaphragm parts was replaced into new genuine parts. He could understand the widened wheel often cause the discrepancy on the scrub point on the tire tread leading to the reduction of natural transient property on steering reaction.

Natural phenomena & Beetle

Relatively stronger typhoon #18 did harm on Japan Island especially on Kinki, Toukai and Kanto areas and still now rains hard, TV News tells that it rained cats and dogs and winded hard causing considerable damages miserably. Our experiences piled every year cannot overcome and prevent these kind of natural disastrous phenomenon even now. The energy exerted by Earth is far stronger than our imaginations. It shows that our desperate effort in Natural Science cannot ride over the huge mountain.

3 residual brake operative cylinders and involved linkage construction inside in VW 1302 Super Beetle were checked and anchor mechanism were fairly adjusted. Especially, much attention was paid on the fitting between anchor adjuster groove and brake shoe filling to establish not line nor point touching but surface to surface connections at an adequate position as mentioned before. Resulting of these procedures, tight and firm brake pedal touching could be obtained and some precise rear brake shoe clearance with the drum inner surface made the difference of brake pedal activating angular positions with the conditions parking brake lever is pulled up or not. Also, rear hub inner and outer bearing were lubricated with Chrom-Molybdenum grease, just removing hub outer cap with 4 of 14mm head bolt and longer injection needle made it possible to put an additional lubricant on the position that cannot be reached unless removing the hub from hub case built in the trailing arm. Thank to these servicing and maintenance, any anxiety on lack of lubrication in any moving places belongs to this vehicle has wiped out and probably my Super Beetle would live longer from now than I myself do.

Irregularity of brake power

The maintenance on frontal right brake shoes in VW1302 Super Beetle caused a difference of brake power resulting left side distorting torque when a bit harder operation. This phenomena is reduced gradually in accordance with an establishment of precise fitting is attained on contacting surfaces between a shoe and a drum. In order to keep the catalog performance, keen observation and periodical treatment and development of a small part are indispensable especially on an old car. AD motor is in good combusting condition at ATDC10 degree in relatively cooler climate atmosphere. Heavier and muddy steering response must caused by movable rear axle construction mainly depending on distorted and altered hinge bushes both inner and out sides. Replacing them into new parts are desired including fixed trailing arm inner bushes because those replacement parts are all already obtained. Also, the rear hub bearings are the same.
