OS 40 FSR

OS 40 FSROS 40 FSR schnuerle motor is one of the most popular over 35 years ago. Schnuerle scavenging combustion system, good case designing and precise finishing made it's reputation unmovable, also it's carburetor had fuel squeezing mechanism and it was operated so stable and so smooth well not only on ordinary flying models but also on stunt maneuver contest scenery.
In spite of the holding of crank shaft main bearing is not fully covered, the thickness of front case mainly supporting crank shaft is stout with no vulnerability leading to some certain operation.
Crank shaft bearings F/R are R6Z and #6902 proving enough gas port area grooved in the shaft and sophisticated designing carried out to establish a perception as the first class operating product.
So, ultimate performance could be obtained not only by an experienced flyer but also by a layman pilot so far as the rust is avoided unexpected appears in the bearings, piston ring.
ABN P/C model could be chosen in later model, the difference between a ring piston one is not be distinguished, on the other hand operation noise of ABN model is higher than the former model.
The technology for producing this kind of Schnuerle motor must have established at that period, though one piece case technology and machinery precision have remarkably advanced these days.
Noisy performance operation is not accepted by ordinary inhabitant these days because of Noise Pollution, the quiet and calm operation is desired except some specific field such as Pylon Race and Rat Race. Probably, this is why 4 cycle motor or Brush-less motor source are accepted including breaking effect while downing phase.

Italian Rossi 40 motor

Italian Rossi 40 motorRossi 40 motor made by CELLATICA-Brescia Italy had been obtained last year, but it was thrown away because of malfunction of throttle valve, stuck feeling while hi-lo barrel movement. Careful checking has proved that the problem was caused by abnormal cutting of oblique guiding groove for fuel squeezing mechanism, step difference and surface roughness, also a tension spring for out side pushing effect keeping the squeezing fuel constant was too strong.
Diamond filing and polishing the surface touching the guiding pin head made the movement so smooth as desired.
Tension spring was replaced into that with lower spring constant, it should meet with the requirement for primary compression pressure vibration .

Though 435 gr weight is not so light as HP 40 mentioned before, disassembling procedure revealed that Rossi 40 motor is well designed, machined and finished as if it is some marvelous craft, assembling tolerance of all moving parts are adequate, especially ABC piston & cylinder construction is excellent as to make me feel to use actually and to last me so long.
As for the muffler setting, the pitch value is the same as OS 40 FSR or ENYA 40X , not so specific modification is necessary.
Not a few 40 class motors have I to be tested not on test bench but on the airplane in actualy functional situation.

Hornet was lost that had been intended to be used as a actual flying motor test bench, how come.
Inviting Kyosho ARF model Calmart 40 is one of my choice, but a painted & finished Explorer 40 is hanging from the ceiling----?
How would be my decision?

Very rare HP 40 motor

Very rare HP 40 motorProbably over 50 years old Schnuerle HP 40 motor(NIB) arrived from Yahoo Auction seller the other day at very lower price, lack of genuine carburetor made the bidder hesitate to proceed.
OS 2C carburetor with 7 mm diameter throat and Irvine muffler fit well with 300 gr weight in total those are 100 gr lighter than OS 40 LA.
100 gr pulling down factor while the maneuver drawing has much to do with the character of the flight wherever the factor might affect on, motor, servos, battery etc. In spite of wearing ball bearing crank shaft supports F/R, delicate designing of the motor brought the lightest weight, iron cylinder and alumina piston with ring construction.
So, I made up mind to construct Yoshioka Pegasu Acro for this lightest HP 40 motor.
Let's see what will happen on the lightest Acro model airplane burdening the lightest motor.

Items to be regret

There were several items to be regret for the application to Cassiopeia Contest.

The aileron servo bed rear support had been lost probably because of unintentional external stress while handling.
The problem was solved by another friendly applicants from Kobe R/C counter-measuring with quick glue.
Also, the function of aileron was dead because of mull-coupling disconnection, this inconvenience was pointed out just before taking off. But for these helpful suggestions, my application of the contest was void at all.

Inadequate practice on Rookie 20 model led me unsatisfied result, the control while drawing patterns were not done well like a beginner. Also, the affirmation for the flight was not done well. Flight training was not enough because of several reasons leading to some lack of self confidence.

As circumstantial unlucky conditions, the Sun was positioned just at the left side pattern area and it was difficult to show my drawing at the convenient position for the judges.

Flock of dragonfly was at very near portion on my face, they prevented me from drawing patterns freely in relief.

Consequently, I could not play enough to obtain good result in spite of best OS 32F motor operative condition, but no apology was not accepted , yes, the result is the first at all.

The countermeasure for this result should be prepared, some precise checking list must be created by myself and be nourished the strong affirmation table for myself.

Cassiopeia 70 class contest over

Cassiopeia 70 class contest has over under the good climate and ground condition at Maruyama athletic ground in Toyooka.
The holder Mr. Hiroshi Kato(the representative of Cassiopeia Company) made a desperate effort to keep this contest in normal condition, the heavy rain fall the other day made the flying place void.
But for his contribution to negotiate with the Maruyama Riverbed Manager( the authority) to scatter huge amount of sand powder on the ground, we could not enjoy the contest affair at all. We do not find out any words to appreciate his desperate effort, any other ordinary person but he could not do that.
Thank to his long lasting effort and contribution in this field, Cassiopeia contest affair was bustling so much. Famous flyers came far from Kinki area, even from Tokyo.
I could meet with old friend with shaking hands, Mr Chikahisa who had been one of a representative Kansai area player over 40 years ago.
My TETRA Rookie 20 won 30th place among 44 applicants, but here remember, all of the contest flyers brought the adequate models for F3A maneuver pattern with 70 class wing area, as for myself, smaller 20 class shoulder wing trainer model.
Judging from the inferior fighting condition, feel I that I did not so good but not so bad.
With all much more stable self affirmation, should I do better, 30 years absence in this field made me dull incompetent pilot at all.
As the concept for the next competition is well-rounded, I would like to make best effort.
