Stormlike strong wind made me so anxious about the condition of plum flower yesterday at Yuki-Shrine in Mie Prefecture, but it was in vain, no problem inside. Unexpectedly occurred low pressure was the reason.

Though the aiming purpose to shoot was Weeping Plum, unexpected specific green colored birds in number easily changed my determination immideately.

Minolta Auto Rokkor 58mm/f1.4 was set on 33*44 image for the initial target, but my moved mind by them proceeded to exchange 58mm/f1.4 into New MD 135mm /f2.8. As we know, so quick moving object is above difficulty at all if no sophisticated performance such as eye seeking capability in the autofocusing program with so to speak AI programing.

As for my equipment, all complete fully manual procedure with no programmed digital support!!

Just because of unreliable and selfish reason I set the ignition timing at 7 degree angle value from BTDC, Toyota EP82 Starlet used at that time had BTDC 10 and Super Beetle 1302 did BTDC 5, so I took median value at 7 degree. And I had been using it for 30,000 km without doubt? Careful checking of the Nul point shown on the crank pulley, I found out additional marking on both side of Null point, probably plus 5 and minus 5 degree marks.

The idea of Anti Pollution was invited at the beginning of 70s and all the manufacturers obliged to delay the ignition timing in order to avoid air pollution all over the world, inhibited gas were Hydrocarbon and Carbon Oxide. As the regulation was applied only on the moment of idling condition, they should do that only on that interval.

VW '71 Super Beetle 11AD had complicated distributore controlling system, advanced ignition timing at 5 degree BTDC while ordinary condition and only while idling moment the timing was delayed 5 degree from Null point. As incredibly very strange and quire timing control was e equipped in the distributor at that era, so the performance of combustion was not always comfortable at all.

As for may Super Beetle, I have been losing the opportunity to set up the combustion timing so precisely as to satisfy myself to enjoy comfortable combustion note, paying attention only on the exhaustion gas inspection done by the Authority.

Remember that the Anti-Pollution Exhaust Gus standard value by the Authority is applied on the manufacturers, not on the automobile users. The regulated standard value for actual users are defined, so vehicle users can do any setting as he or she prefer so far as the specified value of definition should be kept. Probably, differs depend on the country.

Consequently, I applied the value for idling speed, BTDC 5 degree as a testing run, the combination and gradation of vacuum advance and centrifugal advance became far fine and the acceleration smoothness has improved, BTDC 5 degree is Correct as a matter of fact!

I'm mentioning about old Minolta Auto Rokkor 55mm/f2.0 and Auto Rokkor-PF 55mm/f1.8 as shown in figs.

Simple comparison with single light source application from adequate angle shows similarity and identity on the lens design fundamental, 5 group and 6 element Gaussian construction. Of course, the diameter of the most anterior frontal glass differs each other because of different F number, but setting the single light source on the symmetric position, some surprise occurred in my mind. Almost exactly the same reflective surfaces exist though some coating density discrepancy is observed between them.

A few days ago, both of them were obtained through Yahoo auction at the cheapest prices including another Minolta faster lens Auto Rokkor 58mm/f1.4, marble-like gem so called because of optical property that appears around fully opened iris condition, bleeding phenomena that cannot be seen in recent designed modern models. But for this physical property, some specific resolution cannot be explained. Utilizing this extraordinary characteristic would play very important part of fantastic, passionable and deeply impressive, some photographic artists might control this hidden potential with pleasure. This is where the joy of only a few photographer who know the historical background of Minolta can be found. The world exists in different dimensions from so to speak----"resolution and contrast", also differs from "Kante theory" by Ernst Leitz company.

Consequently, I spent time to maintain three Auto Rokkors, fully disassembled for cleaning and circle edge black coating application, it goes without description that helicoid and it's straight movement guide groove rublication. Remember that old Minolta SLR lenses from Auto Rokkor to MC models accept relatively easy access to disassembling and maintaining that are required so periodically to remove mist and mold fungus, but later MD model refuses periodical maintenance because of it's lens supporting fuselage design, not metallic but with engineering plastic one piece molding method leading to "Non-degradable structure", how come?

All three Auto Rokkors are accepted on 33*44 image sensor, so I'm looking forward to obtaining brilliant result.

I happened to bid on a old Minolta, Auto Rokkor 58mm/f1.4 with SLR period mount. Though some inconvenience on iris control, the selling price was only 2,150 yen finding out critical problem on the auto iris control pin distortion. It loses smooth movement on the iris controlling ring movement as a matter of fact.
Disassembling the base of the controlling pin base plate to correct the figure could make it possible to regain it's original physical property.
Applying some grease to at helicoid portin, it became like new as usual. No defect was observed on optical construction.
Specific smudge resolution on iris opened condition would show it's extraordinary performance on 33*44 image sensor.
I'm looking forward to inviting this Auto Rokkor 58mm/f1.4 (old Minolta) for fantastic photo shooting.

The aquarium designed by my son as his hobby caused some problem, one is heater defect leading to mass death and another is leakage in water circuitry. Anyway, periodical inspection is indispensable especially in water circuitry. Joint in flange and couplers with O shape ring packing. Rubber parts and hose joint distor because of physical property, permanent distortion. Vinyl Chloride vinyl parts need precise maintenance because of material vulnerability, not a few parts are invited. The maintenance should be done by the designer, my son, but he had run far away for Snowboarding to Hokkaido. This is why I'm advocating him, we call this situation, "Oyabaka chanrin".
