この報告は前回の記事「キャノンデール レフティの復帰（その１）」の続編です。
フレームからレッグを取り外して作業の準備ができたので、リコイル作業に入ります。
キャノンデール・レフティのハブボルトのサイズは、Ｍ１０/１．０ピッチですので、それに適合したリコイルキットが必要です。
Ｍ１０サイズの♂ネジの外径は、ネジ山の頂上の外径が10ｍｍなので、♀ネジがつぶれて丸裸になった穴の内径も１０ｍｍです。
レッグをバイスにしっかりと固定して、リコイルキットに含まれている下穴用の専用ドリルで、つぶれた♀ネジの穴をクリーニングします。

下穴が準備ができたら、同じく専用のタップでネジを切っていきます。無理に押し付けず、タップが自然に進むような感触で作業します。タップの刃にはオイルをさして作業しますが、母材に切り込んでいく最先端に常にオイルを入り込ませ、潤滑、冷却されるようにイメージして、タップが安定して進むようになったら、途中で数ミリずつ戻し刃の先端に油を馴染ませながら回転させていきます。あまり戻し過ぎると切削屑を逆に抱き込んでしまうことにもつながるので注意です。

本来ならリコイルを挿入後、先端のひっかけ部分を折とりますが、この作業では行いません。
リコイルネジの全長は約20ｍｍ、レフティのシャフトのネジ部は15ｍｍなので、先端は遊んでしまっているのでポンチや、プライヤーで折とることができないのです。
しかし、ハブボルトの噛み込み部分は１０ｍｍ程度なので不都合はありません。
このような処理は、ウエスを入れて拭くときに、リコイルにひっかけてしまう危険性がありますが、自分が分かっていれば問題ありません。

これで完成しました。試しにハブボルトをねじ込んでみますが、スムーズにねじ込めています。
スチール系同士のカチッとした爽快で安定した感触になり、アルミ合金の穴にスチール系のボルトを
入れていくときとは異なり、不安感が無くなりました。

完成したレッグをフレームに戻して、ホイールを組み付けていきます。
ワンキーレリーズ用の黒いキャップが付いていると、手探りでハブボルトをシャフトに差し込むことになるので、キャップを取り外してシャフト部を目視して作業します。これなら不安なくボルトを入れることができます。

ハブボルトを１．５ｋｇ/Ｍのトルクで締め付けます。以前のような不安な感触はなくなり、快適な感触が手に伝わってきます。素晴らしいですね。
Hubbolt tighten with a torque of 1.5kg/m. Whilst the uneasy feeling like before, conveyed to feel comfortable. It is great.
仕上げにワンキーレリーズ用の黒いキャップを戻して作業完了です。
※ワンキーレリーズ用キャップは逆ネジになっています。
Black cap for onekey release back to finish the work done.

これにて作業は無事に完了、安心して乗れるように復活しました。
