Rüsselsheim, 19. November 2012 – Schick kommt er daher, modern und präsent. Der Mitsubishi ASX startet mit signifikanten Änderungen in das neue Modelljahr 2013. Mit rund 22.000 Zulassungen in Deutschland ist der kompakte Crossover ohnehin ein Erfolgsmodell – jetzt wird er noch attraktiver: ein eleganteres Außendesign und ein aufgewertetes Interieur sorgen für den optisch starken Auftritt.
Die mattschwarzen Partien an Front und Heckschürze sind jetzt einem nahezu vollständig lackierten Stoßfänger gewichen. Die Einsätze der Nebelscheinwerfer (ab Ausstattungsvariante Invite) werden zudem von einer edlen Chromspange umrahmt. Zusammen mit dem wabenförmigen Grilleinsatz unterstreicht dies den hochwertigen Charakter des Fahrzeugs eindrucksvoll. In der stärker als bisher von der Wagenfarbe dominierte Heckansicht integrieren sich die tiefer positionierten Reflektoren harmonisch ins Design.
Im Inneren fallen sofort die geänderten Zierleisten in den vorderen Türverkleidungen auf sowie das neue Lenkrad-Design. Für die Variante Inform wählte der japanische Autobauer neue Sitzbezüge in Schwarz sowie ein neues Radio in aktuellem Design. Beim Mitsubishi ASX Invite kommen abgesetzte Ziernähte bei den Sitzen hinzu sowie neue Bedienknöpfe für die Audio-Anlage und Tempoautomatik am Multifunktionslenkrad.
Besonders attraktiv im Verhältnis Preis/Leistung zeigt sich die „Intro/Edition“ des Mitsubishi ASX: 17-Zoll Leichtmetallfelgen, Privacy-Glass, Sitzheizung für die Vordersitze und elektrisch anklappbare Außenspiegel mit integrierten LED-Blinkleuchten werten diese Version künftig auf. In der Top-Version Mitsubishi ASX Instyle verwöhnt das neue Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS), welches jetzt SD-Karten basiert arbeitet. Zudem wurde das Premium-Audio-System von Rockford Fosgate verfeinert und mit neuen Funktionen versehen.
ClearTec-Technologie für alle Motoren
Für den ASX Modelljahr 2013 steht neben der mit Allrad- und Frontantrieb erhältlichen 1.8-Liter Dieselversion auch ein effizienter 1,6-Liter-Benzinmotor zur Wahl.* Er leistet 86 kW/117 PS, bietet ein maximales Drehmoment von 154 Nm und verfügt – analog zum Diesel – über einen Leichtbau-Zylinderblock aus Aluminium sowie die variable Ventilsteuerung MIVEC.
Das Benzin-Triebwerk wird im ASX in Kombination mit Frontantrieb angeboten und mit einem manuellen Fünfgang-Schaltgetriebe angeboten. Der (kombinierte) Kraftstoffverbrauch liegt bei lediglich 5,8 l/100 km und der CO2-Ausstoß bei 133 g/km – wozu auch die beachtliche aerodynamische Effizienz des ASX mit einem für diese Klasse exzellenten Luftwiderstands-Beiwert von cw = 0,32 beiträgt.
Das ebenfalls von Mitsubishi Motors entwickelte, kraftvolle 1.8 DI-D+ Common-Rail-Aluminium-Dieseltriebwerk mit serienmäßigem Partikelfilter erfüllt die Abgasnorm Euro 5, leistet 110 kW/150 PS und entwickelt ein maximales Drehmoment von 300 Nm. Diese Antriebsvariante wird in Kombination mit einem manuellen Sechsgang-Schaltgetriebe angeboten. Mit Frontantrieb begnügt sich der ASX 1.8 DI-D+ im kombinierten Normzyklus mit 5,4 l/100 km und emittiert dabei 141 Gramm CO2 pro Kilometer, bei der Allradversion sind es 5,6 l/100 km respektive 146 g/km.
Zur Reduzierung von CO2-Emissionen verfügen alle ASX-Modellvarianten serienmäßig über die Mitsubishi-ClearTec-Technologie mit automatischem Start-/Stopp-System (AS&G), einer Kraftstoff sparenden elektrischen Servolenkung, einem regenerativem Bremssystem und Reifen mit fünf Prozent weniger Rollwiderstand.
Hohes Maß an Fahrdynamik und Sicherheit
Auf dem neuesten Stand der Technik zeigt sich der ASX auch in Fahrdynamik sowie aktiver und passiver Sicherheit. Das fahraktive Fahrwerkskonzept beinhaltet unter anderem: ABS-unterstützte Scheibenbremsen vorn und hinten mit elektronischer Bremskraftverteilung und Bremsassistent. Die elektrisch unterstützte Servolenkung trägt nicht nur zu präzisem Handling bei, sondern auch zur Reduzierung von Kraftstoffverbrauch und Schadstoffemissionen.
Für maximalen Insassenschutz im Kollisionsfall sorgen die patentierte Mitsubishi Karosseriestruktur RISE („Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution“), sieben Airbags einschließlich Fahrer-Knieairbag, Vordersitze mit aktiven Anti-Schleudertrauma-Kopfstützen sowie ein Sicherheitsmechanismus, der bei Frontalkollisionen das Eindringen des Bremspedals in den Innenraum verhindert.
Option für den Diesel: das Mitsubishi Allradsystems „AWC“
Ein weiterer Fixpunkt der ASX-Fahrdynamik ist das elektronisch gesteuerte, für die Dieselversion erhältliche Mitsubishi-Allradsystem „AWC“. Der Fahrer kann aus drei Antriebsprogrammen auswählen: In „2WD“ sorgen ausschließlich die Vorderräder für Vortrieb. Effekt: noch weniger Verbrauch. Im Modus „4WD AUTO“ wird das Drehmoment für maximale Traktion variabel verteilt. Schwierigste Fahrbahnbedingungen meistert der ASX mit der Funktion „4WD LOCK“, wobei der Drehmomentanteil an der Hinterachse erhöht wird.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, officially launched the much anticipated all-new Mitsubishi Mirage today.
Developed on the concept of ‘compact’, ‘affordability’ and ‘high fuel efficiency’, Mirage is set to create waves in Malaysia. With focus on fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness, the Mirage is capable of an impressive 21 km per litre of petrol as measured in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Present to officiate the launch was Osamu Masuko, President of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Japan, accompanied by Tetsuya Oda, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.
The Mirage comes in three variants, namely the five-speed manual GL, CVT GL and CVT GS, with prices ranging from RM55,328 to RM63,120 (on-the-road without insurance) and made available in five colors – Lemonade Yellow Metallic, Eisen Grey Mica, Red Metallic, White Pearl and Cool Silver Metallic.
Buyers can choose to pair the MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) engine to a smooth and efficient INVECS-III (Continuously Variable Transmission) or a five-speed manual gearbox. Besides the standard three-year or 100,000 km warranty, the Mirage comes with a free one-year maintenance package (maintenance parts, engine oil and labour cost up to one year or 20,000km).
The Mirage delivers fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions that are among the best in its class thanks to its all-new 1.2-litre engine with MIVEC technology and thoroughly reduced aerodynamic resistance and rolling resistance. Optimization of the body structure and more extensive use of high-tensile strength panels make the vehicle some seven percent* lighter than a usual car for its class, contributing to better fuel economy.

The modern three-cylinder engine produces 78 PS and 100 Nm of torque, providing the lightest-in-class 850 kg for the CVT and 825 kg for the MT variant respectively.
The Mirage comes with an equipment list that is full of surprises for a car in this segment. Features unique to it includes the Smart Key (keyless entry) with push start button, digital automatic air-condition, a 2-DIN audio system with USB, iPod and AUX interface, Bright View instrument cluster, and a leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.
Safety is a main priority at Mitsubishi, and as a global car, the all-new Mirage comes with active and passive safety features to protect its occupants. 4-Wheel ABS with EBD is standard, along with dual front SRS airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX Child Seat Mount, Child Lock and Anti-Pinch Power Window.
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has also made available a range of optional accessories for the Mirage. Owners can jazz up their new ride with an Aero Package (RM1,999.90), Chrome Package (RM750.00), Ralliart fuel lid cover (RM150.00) and smart fit leather seats (RM1,500.00), or a combination of the above.
First entry into B-Segment Hatchback
“The introduction of Mirage is indeed a defining moment in our automotive journey in Malaysia as Mirage is the perfect model for our very first entry into the B-Segment hatchback. With its superb fuel efficiency, advanced features and stylish compact design, we are confident of selling 400 units per month, with a target share of 20% in the B-segment Hatchback, among non-national brands,’ said Tetsuya Oda, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.
“With the addition of Mirage, the Mitsubishi lineup in Malaysia grows to 11 models and we are well on track to achieve annual sales of more than 30,000 units by year 2015. We will continue to introduce new Mitsubishi models with eco-friendly technologies which promote smarter and more fuel efficient driving experience,” said Oda.
“The Mirage is Mitsubishi’s global strategic model which fits both the needs for an affordable entry car in emerging countries, and the needs for environmental friendliness in matured countries,” the visiting Masuko said.
He added, “In Thailand we have already received over 45,000 units of orders from customers after the launch in March this year. As for Japan, we have also launched the Mirage in August and we have received close to 12,000 units of orders from customers with very positive response.”
Steady growth
Oda also revealed that Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is confident of achieving its sales target of 13,000 cars for the fiscal year ending March 2013, thanks to the introduction of the Mirage and new variants of current models. In the first seven months of Financial Year 2012 (April-October 2012), Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold close to 7,000 vehicles.
“Mitsubishi is currently the fourth best-selling non-national brand in Malaysia, with a 4.1% market share among non-national brands,” he added.

The all-new Mitsubishi Mirage is powered by a new highly efficient 3-cylinder 1,200cc engine with the exclusive Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system (MIVEC) technology that adjusts the timing of the intake camshaft for optimal performance across the rev range. The all-new Mirage is able to achieve a fuel efficiency rating of up to 21 km/l. Interior
The sporty yet subtle look is complemented by the all-new Mirage's black-themed interior. The dashboard provides a clean styling for excellent forward visibility. All the controls, dials of the auto-climate system, and buttons have been simplified and well located offering an uncluttered personal space.
Exclusive to the GLS variant is a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver accent for a premium and classy feel. The steering wheel can be tilt adjusted according to driver's preferences for better driving and control. Performance
Behind this global car is a lightweight and compact 1.2 liter 3 In-Line DOHC MIVEC Gasoline (3A92) engine. This new fuel efficient engine is capable of achieving a maximum output of 78 PS at 6,000 rpm and 100 N-m at 4,000 rpm of torque. Engineered with driving efficiency in mind, this 1.2 liter engine excellently balances both performance and fuel economy thanks to the MIVEC or Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control technology. This continuously variable valve timing system electronically controls and regulates the intake camshafts of the engine giving more power at lower revs and better fuel efficiency at higher revs.
Suggested introductory retail price of the all-new Mirage starts at P498,000 for the GLX MT, P548,000 for the GLX CVT, while the GLS MT and CVT are available for P588,000 and P638,000 respectively.
