井上尚弥のボクシングネタついで
黄金のバンタムという表現があります。
これは、昔にはジュニアとかスパーとか付く階級がなく今よりも
少ない階級で試合が行われていたため、中南米、日本、韓国、
フィリピン等の小柄で強い選手がこのバンタムに集まっていたこと
により、このバンタム級をさして黄金のバンタムと呼んでいたそうです。






バンタム級というと、アニメでおなじみの明日のジョー事「矢吹ジョー」
ノーガード戦法で相手のパンチを受けながら必殺のクロスカウンターで
KO勝ちというスタイルのボクサー。
実はこのジョーには、実在のボクサーを題材に作られたそうです。






そのボクサーは、かってこの黄金のバンタムにおいて世界チャンピオンとなったファイティング原田の同門の選手の斎藤 清作だそうです。(階級はフライ級)
彼は、片目の視力が無くプロテストの際には視力表を丸暗記して臨んだ
という逸話もあり、片目が見えないことをあいてに知られないように
ノーガードで相手に打たせて、打ち疲れたところをラッシュをかける戦術
で、日本チャンピオンになった男。
しかし、ノーガードで相手に殴られ過ぎたためパンチドランカーとなり
引退した・・・・
殴られる時は、あえて相手のパンチをよけず、笑いながら「利いてないよ」
と相手の耳元で囁いていたそうで・・・・
本当にこの話ならば「矢吹ジョー」みたいですな・・・・・・






その後彼は、芸能界に入り、「たこ八郎」として活躍その後酔っ払って
海で泳ぎ心臓麻痺で他界。

今の人には「たこ八郎」と言ってもピーンとこないかなw

と、どうでも良い話題にて。
