NEW CITROËN DS5 WINS TOP HONOUR WITH TOPGEAR

しばらくぶりにシトロエンUKのサイト開いて見たら、こんな記事が載っていました。イギリスですら、発売は来年の第一四半期ですが、トップギア・マガジン主催2011年のベスト・ファミリーカーにシトロエンDS5が選ばれたそうです。

It hasn't yet been launched on the UK market but that didn't stop Top Gear magazine from naming Citroën's new DS5 as their 'Family Car of the Year'.

The Top Gear team has been lucky enough to get up close and personal with the DS5 before the planned launch in the first quarter of 2012. Given that the team gets to experience almost every car on the market - and their reputation for brutal honesty - this award for the DS5 is high praise indeed.

Top Gear judges were impressed with the family-sized DS5 inside and out and its mix of distinctive style and technology edged out established rivals for the crown of best family car. With interior design inspiration from the world of aviation, a head-turning exterior and attention to detail right down to the meticulous soundproofing, it was a clear winner.

As well as quirky features, such as toggle switches inspired by an aeroplane's cockpit and an eye-catching aerodynamic design, DS5 has the option of a pioneering diesel-hybrid engine, a first for Citroën with the 200hp, 99g/CO2 Hybrid4.

But DS5's versatility and practically isn't compromised by its great design and style. Above all, DS5 meets the core requirements for a family car - capable of carrying five people plus luggage on journeys that might be anything from a supermarket run to a driving holiday. Parents will have no problem fitting prams in the 465 litre boot, and the back seats are easily accessible from the front. Of course, as children grow, parents can expect to make more and more trips and need an economical family car – so DS5's impressive fuel consumptions figures will be reassuring to see.
The judges praised the originality of the 'exciting but functional' DS5 saying that 'because the DS5 isn't a half-hearted copy of a German saloon, it's the better for it.'


Linda Jackson, Citroën UK's Managing Director, says the award is proof that the DS range is 'cementing Citroën's reputation for class-leading design.' In keeping with the award Ms Jackson says that with its looks and innovative Hybrid4 technology, the DS5 'is about an outstanding motoring experience for the whole family to enjoy.'

The award is the second year of success with the Top Gear judges for Citroën. In 2010, Citroën DS3 won Top Gear magazine's 'Small Car of the Year' and the overall 'Car of the Year' award. It's also the second recent year where Citroën have proven their expertise at crafting fantastic family cars - the C3 Picasso was named 'Best Family Car' of 2009 by the Daily Express' Motoring team.

The 2011 Awards edition of Top Gear magazine with an article on DS5 Top Gear's Family Car of the Year is on sale from 2 December.
